The Kreutzer Quartet treasure their collaboration with composer Edward Cowie. We have worked closely together for the past 5 years, and this partnership has resulted in premieres of String Quartets, solo and duo works, a number of films, and now, two albums of his first 6 quartets. The first, of Quartets 3,4, and 5, was released on NMC, and we are preparing to release a second, of Quartets 1,2, and 6, which we premiered last summer at Wiltons Music Hall, on the METIER, Divine Art label.

Cowie’s music is profoundly influenced by his great fascination with the natural world. He has described this piece, and the role of each player, as four ‘habitats’

Edward’s new piece is dedicated to the great quartet leader, Christopher Rowland, who was a major influence on me in my teens.
