The last rehearsal of the year, a joyous morning playing Mihailo Trandafilovski’s 2 ‘Duos’ with Roderick Chadwick (we are recording them in a month). This was the piece that began my working relationship with Mihailo Trandafilovski. I was invited to Skopje by SOCOM, the association of Madedonian composers, and the British Council, to premiere this work, and it was there that I met Mihailo, who, it transpired, was an inspired violinist as well as a visionary composer. Since then, he has inspired me so much, and I proud to have recorded and performed both his violin concertos, two string quartets, his large scale work for quartet and choir, his many violin duos and solo pieces.
